Student tours relate to California State Standards for third graders and emphasize the theme of “Continuity and Change.” Through the story of the Stow Family, students appreciate the local significance of political, agricultural and social contributions to California history. Stow House, established in 1873, is on the National Registry of Historic Places. This designation complements California citizenship and history standards.
A note from a recent class tour:
"Thank you for the tour of the Stow House and activities at Rancho La Patera. The children enjoyed seeing the home and artifacts. Some thought the branding and farm equipment was especially interesting. Your activities were well planned and well executed. The children learned a great deal from you that day. Thank you for taking the time!"
