***For Immediate Release*** July 2010

Music returns to the Goodland!  The 4th Annual Music at the Ranch free concert series at Rancho La Patera & Stow House in Goleta begins July 13.  This six-week series, hosted by Goleta Valley Historical Society, will take place on Tuesday evenings from 5:30 to 7:30 pm.  Following the success of last year’s concerts, which drew crowds of up to 1500 people, this summer’s weekly concerts will be sure to provide the same relaxed entertainment to members of the community.

"It is so wonderful to bring our two young children to these free concerts, have a picnic with friends, while enjoying great local bands on your beautiful grounds. As a Goleta native, this concert series is TRULY appreciated and a definite highlight of our summer,” says Gale Hugo, one of last year’s concert attendees.

Concerts are held in the gardens of Rancho La Patera & Stow House, located at 304 N. Los Carneros Road, Goleta.

This 2010 Music at the Ranch entertainment line-up includes:

July 13: The Goodland
The Goodland Band delivers a mix of “harmony driven folk, rock, and reggae.” Their “rootsy dance rhythms, melodic harmonies, tight jams, and witty songwriting” let people get loose on the dance floor.

July 20: Tony Ybarra
Tony Ybarra is a classically trained guitarist who blends classical jazz, Latin, and flamenco guitar. His many diverse styles have led him to craft his own sound that is “melodic, romantic, intimate, rhythmic, and sophisticated.”

July 27: Area 51
Get up and dance to Area 51, for the best “Funk, Soul, R&B, Motown, and Disco” in Santa Barbara. Coming from a jazz and classical background, the group is one of the most popular cover bands in Santa Barbara.

August 3: Donna Greene & the Roadhouse Daddies
Enjoy a “repertoire of feisty blues” and “smokey jazz” from Donna Greene & the Roadhouse Daddies. This band creates a classic “vintage blues and jazz” experience.

August 10: Somos Son
Somos Son brings the “exciting dance rhythms of Cuba” to Santa Barbara. They are influenced by both traditional Cuban Son dance music and contemporary salsa.

August 17: Spencer the Gardener
Best described as eclectic, Spencer the Gardener mixes “guitars, bongos, congas, trumpets, saxophone, bass, drums, and even an accordion” to create a completely unique sound. The Santa Barbara legend mixes it up playing a blend of big band, indie, and pop.

The concert series would not be possible without the commitment of our local bands and the generous financial support of the local businesses. Sponsors include Presenting Sponsor ATK Space Systems, the City of Goleta, The Goleta Noontime Rotary, Montecito Bank & Trust, Rabobank, Santa Barbara Bank & Trust, Gary Atkins Sound, Santa Barbara Independent, Santa Barbara News Press and Latitude 34.

The supporters of Rancho La Patera & Stow House are looking forward to the series, “Music at the Ranch was great this summer. A lot of us families are "up against it" with SB mortgages, and this free event reminds us why we do it. It's a party of the quality of life of this community. It is an easy way to meet up w/ old friends w/ families too,” says William Cochran.
