Our grandfather, Carlo Spezzibottiani, got his start in Goleta working for the Stow family. In 1892, Sherman P. Stow
and his wife Ida sold him a 38-acre parcel of ranchland still owned by our family. The four generations of Bottianis who
followed our grandfather respect and revere our relationship with the Stow family. We truly appreciate the historical
significance of the Stow House and Rancho La Patera and the fundraising efforts of the Goleta Valley Historical Society
to preserve and enhance this important part of Goleta’s history.

What an opportunity! The chance to preserve our unique Goleta Valley heritage for future
generations. Restored buildings dedicated to showcasing the history of Goleta the Good
Land. All this is possible through the community’s donations--yours and mine.
