Our grandfather, Carlo Spezzibottiani, got his start in Goleta working for the Stow family. In 1892, Sherman P. Stow
and his wife Ida sold him a 38-acre parcel of ranchland still owned by our family. The four generations of Bottianis who
followed our grandfather respect and revere our relationship with the Stow family. We truly appreciate the historical
significance of the Stow House and Rancho La Patera and the fundraising efforts of the Goleta Valley Historical Society
to preserve and enhance this important part of Goleta’s history.

|What an opportunity! The chance to preserve our unique Goleta Valley heritage for future
generations. Restored buildings dedicated to showcasing the history of Goleta the Good
Land. All this is possible through the community’s donations--yours and mine.
- Jean Blois, Goleta Mayor

Unrestricted Gifts & Planned Giving
Unrestricted Gifts are most valuable because they enable the Goleta Valley Historical Society to apply the funds where they are most needed. Gifts of cash (check or credit card), appreciated securities, retirement assets and pledges over time. Non-cash gifts of property, art, vehicles, and other personal property are also welcome.
Donor Designated Gifts can benefit the Goleta Valley Historical Society current projects such as the design and construction of exhibits, programs such as Pioneer Days, museum admission, or a specific department: collections, education, events, or the gardens.
Naming opportunities are available.
Memorial & Honorary Gifts
Memorial & Honorary Gifts provide a lasting tribute to a friend or loved one. The Society will send an acknowledgement to the families of those memorialized or to the person honored without specifying the amount.
An endowment has been created to ensure the financial security of the organization and our commitment to education, preservation, and community.
Sponsorship opportunies include support of events, marketing materials such as mailings and brochures, as well as projects such as the Restoration Campaign.
